SiS (Science in Space)
Have you always wanted to know more about the universe? About stars and planets, and how we discovered that the universe is expanding? Are you interested in exoplanets? Would you like to be able to discover one? If your answer to any one of these questions is yes, the Science in Space project (SiS) is just the thing you are looking for.
SiS is an exchange programme with the Kippenberg Gymnasium in Bremen, Germany. Join us and you will meet pupils from another country. You will host each other, that means you live together for some days and discover the cities Leiden and Bremen. Besides an intensive astronomical programme at school and at the university, there will be lots of time for social and cultural activities. We will speak English to communicate, after all it’s the language of science.
16 pupils from the 4th form of each school will participate. The project consists of two parts. The first part will take place in Leiden. We will host our guests from Germany in the first half of the school year. The second part will take place in Bremen. Pupils from Leiden will visit Bremen early spring.
The cost of the project will be €170 per participant. This amount includes the costs of transportation to Bremen. You qualify as a potential participant in the SiS project if:
• you are currently a pupil in 4th form;
• you like physics and mathematics;
• Physics is part of your current curriculum.
