The Budapest Leiden Exchange Project is an exchange-programme with the Karinty Frigyes Gymnasium in Budapest, a school that participates in the IB-Programme and has a bilingual curriculum.
Themes that we study together are European citizenship, History of both countries during dictatorship and European Environment policy. Workshops about these subjects, debates and excursions are part of the exchange-programme. Of course a cultural presentation is also a part of the programme.
Programme 2009-2010
The programme will focus on:
English and American literature and film combined with human rights issues like the problem of tolerance and acceptance of the other. Our aim is to work together on our own interpretation of a modern English play on this theme.
History of tolerance in the 17th Century in Holland and during WW II. We will visit the Anne Frank Huis and participate in a debate on nationalism and prejudices. In Budapest we will visit the House of Terror to learn more about the effect of totalitarian regimes. We will visit the Rembrandthouse in Amsterdam and do some historical research there.
Debate about current European issues.
Of course the programme will also include a cultural presentation.
